Culpepper Shows Up At Vikings Practice Unannounced

MINNEAPOLIS- A strange turn of events in the saga of Daunte Culpepper happened Tuesday when the displaced quarterback started practicing with the Minnesota Vikings. Culpepper arrived on the practice field unannounced, and started throwing balls even after team officials asked him to stop.
“I want my old job back,” Culpepper said, “And one way to get it is to work for it. I’m showing the team I still have what it takes. Exhibiting my talent is the best argument. I think the team understands that.”
“We don’t understand that,” said head coach Brad Childress. “Daunte wasn’t asked to come here, he just showed up. We’ve asked him to stop mucking around the field. Receivers are refusing to catch the balls, and it’s hit a few of them in the head, causing minor injuries. He’s not wanted here, and I hope he gets the message.”
Culpepper wore his old Vikings jersey, suiting up for practice as if not a day had gone by since his tenure with the team. He was seen instructing Sidney Rice to run a deep pattern, and when Rice didn’t comply Culpepper began yelling at him.
“Who is this guy?” Rice was overheard asking his receivers coach. “I’m trying to get back on track here, and this lug is making that more difficult. I feel like I’m in some strange parallel universe or something. Someone please get this pinhead off the field.”
“You know it’s really special to be back here,” Daunte told one reporter. “I love this environment. There’s lots of good memories here. I think it’s going to be a good fit. Hey where’s Mike Tice anyway?”
Coaches told players to simply ignore Culpepper as he waded through tackle dummies, ran sprints, and showed off his throwing arm. After awhile the estranged quarterback seemed to tire, standing at the hash marks, sweaty, and staring at his uncompliant ‘teammates’.
Security had to be called out on the field, and practice delayed as a team of armed stadium police forced Daunte off the field, wrestled him to the ground, and took him away in a golf cart.
“You know me and Randy had something special,” Culpepper yelled to media through the duct tape which covered his mouth. “We can do it again, I swear!”
Tarvaris Jackson and others stood idly by as they looked on at the once star fighting for his dignity and ego.
“I hope I never get like that,” said Adrian Peterson. “It’s just sad is all.”
Culpepper was rushed to the Mayo Clinic for observation and orange juice.
