Woman Claims Ward Was On Cast of “Saved By The Bell”

November 21, 2008 by admin

ST. AUGUSTINE- “I’ve seen that laugh before. I know who that is,” said Mary Linder, 39, of Florida. “I never identified with the guy, but I wouldn’t exactly forget him, dimples and all.” Linder claims wide receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hines Ward, played stunt double for Mario Lopez during seasons 3 and 4 of the hit teen tv show.

“I used to be a propmaster on the show, and I knew who came in and out of there, and that’s him, you need to trust me on this one,” Linder claimed. Linder says that Ward was trouble on the set, often times joking around too much, and more interested in the craft service table where he constantly snacked on M&M’s, Peeps, and Huck Finn chewies rather than concentrating on the complex stunts he needed to perform for Latin teen hunk heartthrob, Lopez.

“He was probably jealous, and he so he didn’t take the job seriously. I complained about him to the producers, and he was off the show after awhile. He had a nice smile that was about it,” Mary told a St. Augustine reporter as she applied more tanning lotion to her forehead.

Ward denies all reports that he performed stunts on the show, but does admit he visited the set more than once when he was dating then burgeoning actress Elizabeth Berkeley. Ward also admits having spent time in Los Angeles prior to reaching training camp in his rookie year, but says the very most that he did on camera was serve as an extra on NewsRadio.

Mary Linder stands by her story claiming Ward was stunt double for the character of “A.C. Slater”, and a bad one at that. She says this even as she confesses that ‘during that time things were pretty hazy for a lot of reasons’. Later, she informed the St. Augustine newspaper with whom she spoke that she might have seen Ward performing on a cruise ship out of Malta once as well. No comment from coach, now analyst, Bill Cowher.
